Midterms

Another 4 weeks passed and I feel the end coming closer. Although I just arrived 9 hours ago from my mid-semester-escape to Malaysia and Singapore (let’s call it my midterm holiday), my mindset again is one concerned with leaving this country quickly after semester’s end and the goodbyes immediately following it. The reason for this negative thought is, once more, pollution. These days, pollution is again sitting at unhealthy levels over days. I was actually hyped for some outdoor exercise…

Helix Bridge, Singapore. Wait – a proper picture on the blog!?

The last four weeks have passed by rather quietly, even though there were some awesome activities besides university. I’m not completely sure as to whether this is because I’m ready to go home or mainly because I did so much awesome stuff here that it somewhat becomes daily life for me.

University has picked up pace, especially after I’ve slacked out on it for the last 11 days. It’s still not overwhelming though, which is why I’m quite motivated to get things done tomorrow after I got some proper sleep (in contrast to seemingly all south and east Asians, I can’t get but 2 hours of cramped sleep in an over-night airplane). Ah – I actually had one midterm exam this semester. And with 53%, I finished well above average in the top quarter!

Frisbee is still fun! So far, I’ve ALWAYS been lucky with the weather conditions when playing/training. This means, apart from sometimes strong winds – which however get you to properly spin the disc – I’ve NEVER had any rain or excess amounts of pollution to deal with while playing, including the beach tournament in Busan three weekends ago. Which, by the way, was particularly fun! Regardless of the actual game performance, the people involved in it just give the sport the positivity that in turn delights everybody.

I don’t look good when throwing or scoring, so here’s my D.

Travelling Malaysia and Singapore has been very relaxing, and inspiring and thought-shaping, just what a mid-semester-break that is discouraged by the university should be all about. It’s actually a pity that couldn’t shave off more days in order to visit more places in peninsular Malaysia, but that’s where I decided to draw the line between getting a replenishing break and screwing up my studies too hard to recover.

Gardens by the Bay, Singapore. Oh how I was flashed by those supertrees!

For the future, there are only five weeks of university left! While during three of them I’ll have go super saiyan on my assignments, the two weeks following the current one are actually fun ones, with my brother finally coming to visit and get trolled around by me joining me for some cool activities! Although his presence might invoke an explicit feeling of home sickness in me once he heads back, I’m still excited to finally see part of my family again, even though I dragged him all across the globe into what is currently a grey cloud of smoggy s***-smog…- city.

As a side note: Even though I might sound quite depressed when talking about the pollution thing, I’m fine! Just expressing my thrill to come home soon, as I came to dislike air pollution very strongly.
